Overview

The all-new 2023 Honda Accord is coming next year, and it's looking better than ever. With an elegant design that's bound to turn heads, the Accord is sure to continue its streak of being a Car and Driver favorite. State-of-the art build quality, top notch materials combined with spacious interior dimensions means this sedan will have you feeling comfortable no matter where the road takes you.

The Accord's new generation sees a hybrid powertrain as standard equipment on all but the lowest two trims, the LX and EX. Those are instead powered by the 1.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the outgoing model—and come paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The higher trim levels get their power from a new 204-hp, four-cylinder hybrid system drawn from the CR-V.

The Accord's designers didn't stop at making the car look good on the outside--they also borrowed design elements from the recently redesigned Civic, CR-V, and HR-V for the interior. These include honeycomb-pattern dash trim that hides air vents and a rectangular infotainment display placed atop the instrument panel.

The 2023 Accord features updated tech as well, including a newly standard digital gauge display and an available 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

What's New for 2023?

The 2023 model year ushers in the 11th generation of the Honda Accord, which is completely new and more attractive than its predecessor. After getting a glimpse of the new Accord and exploring its different trim levels and powertrains, we anticipate that it will go on sale early next year.

We won't know the actual pricing of the new Accord until closer to the car's on-sale date, but we do know that it will be offered in six variations. Four of those variations will only be available with a hybrid powertrain. We'll update this story and provide recommendations for which model represents the best value once Honda announces pricing and provides us with more details about standard and optional features.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The Accord's LX and EX trims are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 192 horsepower and is CVT automatic transmission. Like past generations of the Accord, the 2023 does not offer all-wheel drive; however, the hybrid powertrain option is available on Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring models and consists of a 2.0-liter four cylinder combined with two electric motors totaling 204 horsepower.

The new Accord will feature a CVT, and no manual transmission option will be available. In addition to this change, Honda has also adjusted the suspension and steering in order to improve both ride quality and handling. We'll get a chance to test drive a production car soon and update this story with any new information we learn.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The EPA has not yet come out with fuel economy numbers for the 2023 Accord, but we anticipate it will be similar to the outgoing 2022 model. That was rated anywhere from 30 mpg city and 38 mpg highway (turbo 1.5-liter four-cylinder) up to 48 mpg city/47 mph highway (hybrid powertrain). Honda suggested that the hybrid's EPA estimated mileage could potentially improve by one mile per gallon.

When we have the chance, we will test the new Accord on our fuel economy route that reaches speeds of up to 75 mph. We will update this story with those results shortly. For more information about the Accord's fuel economy in the meantime, please visit the EPA's website.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The Accord's cabin is just as sleek and modern as the exterior, with elements borrowed from other new Hondas that help tie them all together. The HVAC air vents, for example, are hidden behind an expanse of honeycomb trim - a clever design element also found in the new Civic and the CR-V SUV. Honda says the Accord's front seats have been redesigned to provide more support for torsos, and that the trunk has been carefully shaped to hold up to 16.7 cubic feet of cargo. While LX, EX ,and Sport trims come with cloth upholstery, all others come with leather.

Is the Honda Accord 2023 redesign?

With Honda making over the Civic, CR-V, and Pilot, the time has come for a fully redesigned Accord to arrive for the 2023 model year. The 11th-gen Accord continues to utilize the previous model's platform, but grows in size, adopts a new look, and has an updated engine.

When Honda Accord 2023 release date?

Honda has not yet announced the Official release date for the new 2023 Honda Accord; we can expect it by early 2023. The 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid will also drop after the new CR-V Hybrid, a vehicle expected to launch in the coming months as a '23 model.

Why Honda Accord is the best?

It's athletic and enjoyable to drive day to day, and its turbocharged engine lineup offers a nice balance of performance and fuel economy. This Honda also has a spacious trunk. Because of its outstanding combination of quality and value, we named the Accord our 2022 Best Midsize Car for the Money .
